Matthew W. Howell has been a civil litigator for ten years and has participated in over a hundred bench and jury trials. His practice is focused on personal injuries, property and business disputes, contract breaches, and family matters. As an owner and partner at Clark & Howell, LLC, attorney Howell has been selected by his peers as a “Top Attorney and Rising Star” in the 2016 Super Lawyers publication.
Matt received his undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, and worked in the entertainment industry and news broadcasting before attending law school at the University of New Hampshire School of Law (f/k/a Franklin Pierce Law Center) in Concord, New Hampshire.
Matt is an active member of the community and currently volunteers as a mentor with the Jumpstart program, which is an organization through the York Police Department that provides guidance to first-time, juvenile, non-violent offenders. Attorney Howell is also on the board of the York Education Foundation (YEF), where he serves as the vice president. YEF is an independent, non-profit organization that raises money and provides grants for the benefit of York schools, teachers and students. Attorney Howell dedicates countless hours to pro-bono representation for individuals unable to afford legal counsel, and is an active member of the York County Bar Association and the Maine Trial Lawyers Association.
In addition to the practice of law, attorney Howell is also a professor at Boston University where he teaches law courses at the Questrom School of Business. Mr. Howell is licensed in the state and federal courts of Maine.
